HOW SAD IS THAT!

Republican Romper Room …………….…….July 17, 2003 By Geov Parrish, WorkingForChange.com Remember, way back in December 2000, after the U.S. Supreme Court finally stole, er, ruled that George W. Bush would become the next President of the United States? One of the primary themes to emerge – from the ornate hotel lobbies of Washington, from the mouths of AM talk radio hosts, from the new regime’s sneering acolytes in cowboy hats and fur-trimmed coats – was that at last, finally, grown-ups would be running Washington, D.C. No more semen-stained dresses. No more fags in uniform and half-assed missile attacks. No more her. No more children running the world. Wrong! At least with Clinton you knew that the most powerful man in the world had reached adolescence, if not much beyond it. But all current evidence suggests that the world is now being run by 7-year-olds. Oh, to be sure, petulant little children are announcing themselves all around the world these days, from surly little bullies like Ahmad Chalabi (who, after spending years on various playgrounds stealing other kids’ lunch money,have come home to be handed a shiny new bicycle called Iraq), to the angry little brat in North Korea trying to get his parent’s attention (“I’ve got uranium now!” “Now I’ve got a missile!” “Now I’m arming it! Watch me! I really am!” “I said I really am! I mean it this time!!”). Kim Jong II needs time out and a nap; Chalabi needs reform school. But the most alarming spectacle is in Washington itself, where Peter Pan went and recruited his whole grade school class. The result is calamity almost beyond words to describe: an appetite for cool comic-book foreign policy, emphasis on blowing stuff up, combined with a Never-Never Land insistence on how the world works and economics learned from watching older siblings play Monopoly. Little kids, you’ll recall, can be incredibly cruel. And so it is in D.C. these days, a dramatic step down from the last depressing administration, where the Clinton crew (including, no doubt, Janet Reno) had at least discovered girls. This collection hasn’t even matured enough yet to learn right from wrong, or that actions have consequences, or even to experience the essential step in human development of understanding that the world doesn’t start and stop with them, that other people think and act and feel just like they do. Empathy. Instead, this bunch stays at home, watches TV, and plays army all day. It’s a nice day; they should at least go outside and play. Clinton needed to be grounded. Junior needs to havehis toys taken away. You want proof? What was Junior’s sole major “accomplishment” before daddy’s friends got him elected governor of Texas? He used daddy’s allowance money and bought a baseball team. These are rich children. Too much attention is being paid to “rich,” and not enough to “children.” But more and more, the emperor’s outgrown clothes are showing, especially in recent days as the little tyke has finally been confronted in public with truths that contradict his carefully constructed play world. First, he really did go outside and play, to Africa, just to get away from it. But reality dogged him there, too, so mostly he’s been pouting and insisting that the tooth fairy really does exist, there is a Santa Claus, Saddam really did buy uranium from Niger. (“And all that other stuff I made up last week is true, too!”) Frankly, the pile of toys Junior’s no longer interested in is starting to clutter the living room floor, and Junior also keeps tripping over his now-discarded Disney videos, too. (He’s not much for reading.) It’s not like he’s ever learned, or been made, to clean up his own messes. And he still believes all the stories in those old videos, too – Iraq’s mystery weapons in trailers, made out of propane tanks, and the cool spy-movie ties to Al-Qaeda and stuff. He still can’t tell fact from fiction. But confronted with it, he’s reacting the way many small, spoiled kids do – by blaming his friends, starting with the one he doesn’t know very well, the guy who already lived in his new neighborhood when he got here, little Georgie Tenet. (“Hey, I only made him fall on a play sword! It didn’t really hurt.”) Every time Junior does this, he squeezes his eyes real tight and hopes it’ll all just go away so he can go play army s’ more. (He’s also supposed to be doing homework – he hates math! – but video games are more fun.) The other little kids in Junior’s clubhouse are acting about the same way – except for little Rummy, who likes to torture the neighbor’s cats when nobody’s looking. Rummy’s gonna be trouble when he gets older. For years, the adults around Junior and his little pals have been making excuses for their behavior. All kids are above average. It was a misunderstanding. He didn’t mean to break it. He’s really not that dumb. He just learns differently. Isn’t he cute? The parents are rich, so teachers are circumspect, even when the extra lessons they give don’t stick or he makes Family Circus-style mispronouncements. But the behavior coming out of Washington these days has become too destructive, too aberrant to ignore, as it sometimes does when spoiled kids are never reigned in from their excesses. These kids are very spoiled, and their excesses are scaring all the adults in the neighborhood, if not the world. Frankly, it would be a huge improvement if this batch got old enough to discover girls. But that’s a long way away, and meantime they’re really, really wed to their fantasies and their cruelty and their denials. And their moms and dads don’t seem to care. Many, many people could die before Junior and his friends get old enough that they start to learn right from wrong. At this point, the best hope is that they move to another neighborhood.

Ex-wife: Ill. congressman owes $117K child support

CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh, the tea party-backed Republican who squeaked into office last year by vowing to bring fiscal responsibility to Washington and who has been one of President Barack Obama’s most outspoken critics during the standoff over the debt ceiling, is being sued for more than $100,000 in unpaid child support, a newspaper reported.

The freshman congressman’s ex-wife, Laura Walsh, filed the claim against him in December as part of their divorce case, saying he owed $117,437 to her and their three children, the Chicago Sun-Times reported in a story published Wednesday. She contends that Walsh loaned his own campaign $35,000 and took international vacations but said he couldn’t afford child support payments because he was between jobs or out of work.

“Joe personally loaned his campaign $35,000, which, given that he failed to make any child support payments to Laura because he ‘had no money’ is surprising,” Laura Walsh’s attorneys wrote in the motion. “Joe has paid himself back at least $14,200 for the loans he gave himself.”

Walsh, whose campaign was marked by allegations of financial mismanagement, said he thought he and his ex-wife were coming to an agreement on the money owed, according to a February court filing. His attorney, R. Steven Polachek, denied that the congressman owed $117,437 in back child support and interest and said the amount was much less.

“I dispute that he owes the child support that she’s claiming or anywhere near that amount,” Polachek said. “Joe Walsh hasn’t been a big-time wage-earner politician until recently — he’s had no more problems with child support than any other average guy.”

Joe and Laura Walsh were married for 15 years when she filed for divorce in 2002. He has since remarried.

A phone message left Thursday at Walsh’s congressional office wasn’t immediately returned, and his spokeswoman did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

The face of a psychopath looks benign but beyond the forehead lurks a predatory fiend that may attack, causing unthinkable sadness and mayhem.

Many times we are confronted with the fact that there are people who live amongst us who are wired differently than ourselves. This realization happens whenever we hear news of a catastrophic occurrence in which many people (who were at the right place at the wrong time) lose their lives, causing our seemingly sane minds to go haywire. HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN? WHAT POSSESSED THAT PERSON TO DO SUCH A HORRIBLE THING?

There are those who will look to their religion for answers… It was the Devil who did it. Lucifer road roughshod over victims on that day.

This good vs. evil response never sat right with me. It simply is too easy. These sad events perpetrated by human minds are very complex because ‘THE WHY’ may exist within the cells of the brain. The Human Human brain is so complicated I am not sure if
we will ever fully understand the complete workings of it.

I’m glad David Eagleman doesn’t feel that way, he just had his book published called: ‘Incognito‘ (click to listen to interview on NPR): What’s Hiding In The Unconscious Mind. He tries to explain (objectively) how the brain operates. It’s
an interesting read that perhaps will help shed some light on ‘THE WHY’ of the Norway massacre.

The brain of a psychopath is without a doubt, damaged; it may be because of an injury or it may be caused by heredity. If it’s caused by heredity we need to take a whole different look at the physiological mechanisms of the conscience.

To think of the conscience as physical could be quite frightening because it could tell us that people like a ‘HITLER’ are born with psychopathic tendencies innate within their brain and it will be just a matter of time and circumstance when these hereditary
impairments will one day play out in a negative manner. But like religious explanation that try to explain such horrific tragedies, the physical conscience malfunction reasoning is also inadequate, to date. Thus, reading such sadness caused by one of our own species, gives you an overwhelming feeling of helplessness knowing that we mortal human beings will not be able to prevent an occurrence like this from happening again. Not at
least, until we can learn how to identify brain malfunctions that hide within perfectly normal looking brain cells.

Such a sad but also detestable human condition we will have to live with for the time being. thinkingblue

over the majority of people, who are kept in line by their
consciences will most likely remain undiscovered.

How will you live your life?

What will you do with your huge and secret advantage, and
with the corresponding handicap of other people (conscience)?

The answer will depend largely on just what your desires
happen to be, because people are not all the same. Even the
profoundly unscrupulous are not all the same. Some people -
whether they have a conscience or not – favor the ease of
inertia, while others are filled with dreams and wild
ambitions. Some human beings are brilliant and talented, some
are dull-witted, and most, conscience or not, are somewhere
in between. There are violent people and nonviolent ones,
individuals who are motivated by blood lust and those who

Analysis: Norway massacre exposes incendiary immigration issue

Reuters) – Norwegian Anders Behring Breivik said he killed 93
people to spark a “revolution” against the
multiculturalism he believed was sapping Europe’s heritage,
and experts say a frank debate about immigration may be the
best way to prevent similar explosions of violence.

In some Nordic countries, and elsewhere in Europe, political
parties have fed on rising public concern over immigration as
economic conditions worsen and a drip-feed of Islamist
attacks stokes fear and suspicion of new arrivals.

But experts argue overly aggressive political rhetoric and
scare tactics have inflamed passions rather than address the
many complex, underlying problems.

Conflicting messages and political squeamishness in tackling
immigration and multiculturalism have frustrated the public
and given space for hardline ideologues, they say.

“If the twin attacks in Norway fail to trigger an honest
discussion of the issue, exposing often scare-mongering
arguments used by the extreme right, this may marginalize the
radical groups and worsen the situation, which in turn could
bring more similar attacks in the future,” said Lilit
Gevorgyan, Europe analyst at the IHS Global Insight
think-tank.

“This is not just an issue in Norway. Across Scandinavia
and also in Western and Eastern Europe, you have a lot of
people who are very frustrated by the lack of open
debate,” she added.

British Prime Minister David Cameron, Germany’s Angela Merkel
and France’s Nicolas Sarkozy have all declared in recent
months that multiculturalism has failed, in speeches that
were otherwise careful to highlight the contribution of
immigrants.

But critics say such statements at best do little to offer
solutions to tackle the economic and societal pressures that
stem from increasing immigration and globalization, and do
even less to harness the benefits of a multi-ethnic society.

At worst, they say such comments risk victimizing often
vulnerable immigrant communities and souring race relations.

“What has clearly emerged from recent speeches and
ensuing public national debates on multiculturalism is a
sense of confusion, malaise and often contradictory
messages,” said Sara Silvestri, lecturer in religion and
international politics at London’s City University, in an
article dated June 8.

“So we look for easy answers presented as simple choices
e.g., moderate vs. radical Islam, multiculturalism vs.
assimilation … Yet such simplistic naming and categorizing
further divides people and provokes animosities,” she
added.

FUEL ON THE FIRE

A number of Scandinavian political parties have tackled
immigration head on, but the inflammatory tone used by some
politicians may have fueled Breivik’s anti-immigrant and
anti-Islamic hatred.

Many far-right European groups have shifted away from overtly
racist rhetoric and have instead focused their argument on
stressing what they see as the incompatibility of Islam and
European values.

In a 1,500-page violent manifesto published by Breivik, the
32-year-old expressed his admiration for Dutch anti-Islam
politician Geert Wilders, and the tome included reported
anti-Islamic comments Wilders made to the Dutch parliament.
However, Wilders at the weekend denounced Breivik’s actions.

Anti-immigrant and anti-Islamic parties have gained traction
in Nordic and Scandinavian countries in recent years, tapping
public anxiety over the relatively recent phenomenon of mass
migration, particularly of Muslims, to their region.

The anti-immigrant Sweden Democrats were last year elected to
the Swedish parliament for the first time, despite the party
having roots in neo-Nazi movements of the 1980s and 1990s.
The party has criticized Muslims and Islam as being
un-Swedish.

Swedish anti-fascism magazine Expo, where the late
best-selling novelist Steig Larsson was highly active, says
while there may be no direct link between violence and
comments by politicians, the rhetoric creates a fertile
environment for ethnically motivated attacks.

“It is very aggressive ideology that the Swedish
Democrats are pushing toward Muslims … it has become a more
and more accepted way to speak about Muslims this way,”
said Expo reporter Johannes Jakobsson.

“Of course if you are in the Swedish parliament and
point fingers at Muslims and say these people are dangerous,
of course this is going to influence people to become more
hostile toward them,” he added.
“ATROCIOUS, BUT NECESSARY”

Harald Stanghelle, political editor of Norway’s Aftenposten
conservative newspaper, said it was unfair to accuse Norway’s
anti-immigrant Progress Party of inflaming the passions of
individuals such as Breivik, who was once a member.

Stanghelle says Breivik left the party because it did not go
far enough in representing his views, highlighting a dilemma
for those who say parties that drive away those with fringe
views on immigration risk creating militant underground
groups.

“It’s totally wrong to hold the Progress Party
responsible for extremists like this. A few smaller,
anti-immigration groups, anti-multicultural groups, have
broken from the party because they believe it is too polite,
too mainstream,” Stanghelle said.

Stanghelle was careful to paint Breivik as a lone extremist
with little link to the wider discourse on immigration in
Norway. After years on the fringes, Breivik’s views are now
likely to echo loudest at his first court hearing on Monday.

Rachel Maddow

and why the GOP/TP hate her so.

When I watch The Rachel Maddow Show, I cannot believe how much (methodical and accurate) information I receive in just one short hour. Her news team must work diligently day and night to come up (in depth) with so many informative news items.

Today’s technology gives us instant access to what is happening around the globe but unfortunately not all take part in absorbing all the rigorous and ultraprecise world accounts floating about, they would rather watch cartoon shows like Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. This is quite depressing because knowledge is what makes for a better world and life, why anyone would turn their back on it, BTHOM.

Anyway, back to the why I love Rachel Maddow; she brings not only accurate reporting of the phenomenon that go on mostly behind closed doors (in other words, news items that would not normally be seen on mainstream media) and she brings it to us with humor and wit. Her critical thinking skills are off the chart and can be compared to some of the greats of our time, i.e. Richard Dawkins, Chris Hitchens, Howard Zinn, George Carlin, Keith Olbermann (I had to mention Keith because I love his Countdown Show Current TV ) and many others. No wonder the GOP & GOPTP hate her so, which makes her all the more loved by those who possess a wee itty bitty bit of those critical thinking skills.

Thank You Rachel Maddow you are one of the strongest and intelligent human beings that have come down the pike in sometime and Thank You MSNBC for allowing Rachel to come into our parlors each night bringing us insight beyond Old Mental Constructs.

managed, by the skin of our teeth, to hold on to the status the
mega-rich often refer to as, The Bourgeois.) want to know why
people in the same situation as us, turn their backs on logic and
vote for the rich people’s party. Why don’t these poor chumps
possess the ability TO THINK?

‘indoctrination’. They were raised in a bedrock of
brainwashing; by familes who cannot think outside the confines of
a narrow cardboard box, to the establishments they attend like
church, church schools and, oh maybe, their local KKK.org. These
people are told (by folks they consider the AUTHORITY) you must
obey our rules if you wish to be included as one of us; And being
submissive is (what they’ve been taught) the best way to
make it through a life of destitution.

Thom Hartmann’s Tea Party’s Guerrilla Warfare Tactics Video, Deleted From Youtube

A video featuring Thom Hartmann telling about the Tea Party’s Guerrilla Warfare Tactics via youtube came my way. It was so alarming that I tried to put it out there for all to see.

Today July 7^th, I went back to my blogs to find the video so that I could send it to a friend and this (next picture) is what came up upon the screen when I clicked to view the video…

Apparently, someone or something had ordered this video deleted and youtube like the good little sheepal that they’ve become obeyed this order.

I have spent hours trying to find another source that may have also uploaded this video but did not take it down,

TO NO AVAIL.

So I did the next best thing and found the original video (the one Hartmann’s taped show had referred to) and uploaded it to youtube. I hope this one will not be ordered by the Koch Brother’s Tea Party activists, to also be taken down and my account deleted… Keeping my fingers crossed just in case.

Our country has been hijacked by the Corporate Propaganda machine.

We must all attain an awareness of this and do whatever we can, using non-violence to inform others that they are drinking Corporate KOOL-AID.

I had originally blogged this on July 1, 2011; at that time I felt confident that Chuck Schumer had given Keith Olbermann an accurate fact when he said “I don’t believe they are… the cuts to Medicare benefits are not on the table…”. This morning I ran across this article: …..‘Obama puts Medicare, Social Security cuts on the table’ Sorry Mr. Schumer it looks like President Olbama is still trying to cut a deal with the Republicans. WHEN WILL HE LEARN THAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WILL NOT AGREE TO ANY BIPARTISANSHIP DEAL??? We who THINK, know what the R’s are up to… Medicare is collateral damage to these madmen/women as long as their asses are protected… It’s TO HELL with the rest of us. thinkingblue

At last someone has spoken out against the obvious Republican plan to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to defeat President Obama in 2012 whether it take down our country or not. They like to play the 50’s game of chicken to see which jalopy will turn away from the pending ‘head-on’ first. They know that reasonable people will probably always turn away from a collision that can be averted. Thus they repeat this game over and over again because they know reasonable people would predictably claim IT’S JUST NOT WORTH THE HORRENDOUS CONSEQUENCE so let them have their own way!
It has been an ongoing amazement to me that no one speaks the obvious about this selfish {GOP} political party’s devious plans of ME-FIRST/YOU-NEVER.

I know this is a bit dated but I have never seen this phishing email before and perhaps there are one or two of you that have not been confronted with this either.

I received this email on July 4th from a bogus source (SUPPOSEDLY THE IRS). I have included an attached print-key/picture which I took of the IRS NOTIFICATION email screen… Of course I knew it was phony right away. Notice the misspelled words and the obvious mistakes in grammar… The internet thieves and identification pirates are having a ball with the American low information people. I looked it up on snopes and you can read all about it at this link: http://www.snopes.com/…
The IRS (as scary as they are in real life) does not send people ANYTHING via email… If it is something really important, they will usually use Certified Mail to contact a tax payer. Under no circumstance should you open the attached IRS document that comes with the email. thinkingblue
