I just received this
email in my yahoo email account from this email address: alert@yahoo-inc.com I thought, as I read the
information they wanted from me... "Hmmmmm, doesn't YAHOO know
my user name and password and even possibly my date of
birth...???"
I am making this webpage to alert others who
may possess a gullible nature, not only to, NOT PAY ATTENTION TO
THIS "ALERT' but also to, TRY AND REPORT IT. Below, is my
response to this spammed email: thinkingblue.blogspot.com
ATTENTION YAHOO.COM I
am forwarding this email to yahoo-inc because I believe something
should be done to whomever is phishing/spamming these emails to
unsuspecting victims. I know everyone should know, not to
give out their information such as ID and password to some email
address just because it sounds like it's coming from the official
yahoo site. Please let me know what else I can do to help
eliminate such threats.

Response from Yahoo "Yahoo! Mail"
RE: Yahoo! Alert: Important Information Regarding Your Yahoo! Account!!!
Hello,
Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.
I appreciate your report notifying us of possible abuse of the Yahoo!
Mail services.
I understand your concern in this matter. Most mail systems make it easy
for the sender of an email to change the "from" field as well as the
"reply-to" field. This may make it (falsely) appear that the email came
from someone else or even from your own account. This trick is commonly
used, and may be the most likely explanation of what has happened in
your case. Any unsolicited message asking for your Yahoo! ID and
password, security key, or other sensitive information is part of a scam
to gain unauthorized access to your account.
The only way to determine where the email came from is to look at the
original headers. Please include the following in your report of email
abuse to assist us in a prompt and full evaluation:
1) Original subject line - Please forward the email with a subject
identical to the original subject.
2) Complete headers - email programs often display abbreviated headers.
To learn how to display the full headers in a Yahoo! Mail account,
please visit our Help Desk at:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/config/config-11.html
If you are using a different client to read your email, please consult
your email program's help system for more information on viewing full
headers.
3) Complete message body -- please include the complete, unedited
content of the email message in question. Please do not change or edit
the message in any way.
Yahoo! takes the operation of Yahoo! Mail very seriously. Unfortunately,
there is no control over messages sent through other email systems and
it's not possible to preempt the misuse of the Yahoo! name in forged
headers. Yahoo! cannot technically prevent its domain from being forged
in the headers of an email message. However, actions have been taken
against companies in an effort to prevent further forgery of the Yahoo!
brand and to seek damages as appropriate.
For useful information and resources regarding online security, please
visit the Yahoo! Security Center at:
http://security.yahoo.com
Your patience during this process is greatly appreciated.
Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Mail.
Regards,
Parker
