Today's
posting is an alert to all those who cherish truth! ABC
is going to air a mini series (they better not be calling it a documentary)
called THE PATH TO 911. This story written by one, Cyrus Nowrasteh, an
AVOWED CONSERVATIV, is so mangled with
misrepresentations and out and out lies, it should not be aired on the
tragic date of the anniversary of our America's sadness, September 11.
Nor, should it be touted as a factual account of those horrible days leading
up to this grievous event perpetrated on our shores. Please join

Dear Mr. Iger:
It has come to my attention that ABC plans to air a two-part mini-series
called "The Path to 9/11" on September 10 and September 11. Accounts of
advance screenings indicate that this program places primary responsibility
for the attacks of 9/11 on the Clinton administration while whitewashing the
failures of the Bush administration. This assertion is not supported by the
9/11 Commission Report upon which the program is purportedly based. This
PARTISAN MISREPRESENTATION OF HISTORY is not surprising given that the movie
was written by Cyrus Nowrasteh, an AVOWED CONSERVATIVE.
It is wrong for ABC to play politics with the facts of 9/11 by providing a
national platform to present his distorted view of history. I am
unwilling to whitewash the truth. The events that led to 9/11 are
important topics for discussion and debate. But it's a debate that must be
conducted honestly.
ABC's MANGLING of the facts are so grossly offensive to decency and morality there should be some sort of law protecting us from a piece of fictional trite being labeled as facts. Take for instance this portion of the first night's airing: The Path to 9/11 has a dramatic scene where former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger refuses to give the order to the CIA to take out bin Laden — even though CIA agents, along with the Northern Alliance, have his house surrounded.
Rush Limbaugh, who refers to Nowrasteh as “a friend of mine,”
reviews the action:
"So the CIA, the Northern Alliance, surrounding a house where bin Laden is
in Afghanistan, they’re on the verge of capturing, but they need final
approval from the Clinton administration in order to proceed.
So they phoned Washington. They phoned the White House. Clinton and his
senior staff refused to give authorization for the capture of bin Laden
because they’re afraid of political fallout if the mission should go wrong,
and if civilians were harmed…Now, the CIA agent in this is portrayed as
being astonished. “Are you kidding?” He asked Berger over and over, “Is this
really what you guys want?”
Berger then doesn’t answer after giving his first admonition, “You guys go
in on your own. If you go in we’re not sanctioning this, we’re not approving
this,” and Berger just hangs up on the agent after not answering any of his
questions".
GOOD OLD LIMBAUGH, DOES HIS ONE SIDED WARPED BLITZKRIEG ONCE AGAIN!

response to this scene from Richard Clarke, former counterterrorism czar for
Bush I, Clinton and Bush II, and now counterterrorism adviser to ABC:
1. CONTRARY TO THE MOVIE, NO US MILITARY OR CIA PERSONNEL WERE ON THE
GROUND IN AFGHANISTAN AND SAW BIN LADEN!
2. CONTRARY TO THE MOVIE, THE HEAD OF THE NORTHERN ALLIANCE, MASOOD,
WAS NO WHERE NEAR THE ALLEGED BIN LADEN CAMP AND DID NOT SEE UBL!
3.CONTRARY TO THE MOVIE, THE CIA DIRECTOR ACTUALLY SAID THAT
HE COULD NOT RECOMMEND A STRIKE ON THE CAMP BECAUSE THE INFORMATION WAS
SINGLE SOURCED AND WE WOULD HAVE NO WAY TO KNOW IF BIN LADEN WAS IN THE
TARGET AREA BY THE TIME A CRUISE MISSILE HIT IT!
In short, this scene — which makes the INCENDIARY claim that the
Clinton administration passed on a surefire chance to kill or catch bin
Laden — NEVER HAPPENED!!! It was completely made up by Nowrasteh.
The actual history is quite different. According to the 9/11 Commission
Report (pg. 199), then-CIA Director George Tenet had the authority from
President Clinton to kill Bin Laden. Roger Cressy, former NSC director for
counterterrorism, has written, “Mr. Clinton approved every request made
of him by the CIA and the U.S. military involving using force against bin

NOW FOR THE SECOND NIGHT'S LOAD OF BOLOGNA, ON THE PATH TO 911...
According to Nowrasteh, A CIA analyst makes the following complaint:
Besides, ever since the WASHINGTON POST disclosed that we intercepted
his calls, UBL [Usama bin Laden] stopped using phones altogether. He’s using
couriers now, like they did a thousand years ago.
THIS IS NOT TRUE, on a number of levels. First, as Daniel Benjamin
makes clear, the publication at issue is the Washington TIMES:

anything about Tony, you will also know he is a great manipulator of facts
and his paper just loves him.)
HERE IS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED: On Aug. 21, 1998, the Washington
Times, the capital’s unabashedly conservative newspaper, which
regularly breaks more intelligence-related stories than any other daily,
ran an article saying that Bin Laden “keeps in touch with the world via
computers and satellite phones.” This occurred less than two weeks after the
destruction of the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam by al-Qaida
and the day after the United States had bombed al-Qaida targets in
Afghanistan and Sudan. After that report, Bin Laden stopped using his phone
and let his aides do the calling. This story is recounted in both The Age
of Sacred Terror (2002), which I, (Daniel Benjamin) co-wrote with my
National Security Council colleague Steven Simon, and the 9/11 Commission
Report.
Not only is the scene inconsistent with the 9/11 commission report,
IT'S PERPETUATING AN URBAN MYTH! Actually, “Bin Laden’s use of a
satellite phone had already been widely reported by August 1998, and
he stopped using it within days of a cruise missile attack on his training
camps in Afghanistan.”
Why was it included anyway? One explanation: it is frequently cited
by right-wing politicians “seeking to impose greater restrictions on
the news media.” This is a film that doesn’t let the facts get in the way

What is most perplexing, to me, a concerned citizen, is how one-side
(republicans) can stop the airing of a series when they feel it is
inaccurate or non-flattering to one of it's own. As in the case of CBS's
mini series on RONALD REAGAN. Please read the paragraph below:
--Thunderous protest has persuaded CBS to cancel The Reagans, its
miniseries about America's 40th president and his second wife.
It isn't especially troubling that CBS would bow to angry protesters in
canceling The Reagans, given that the miniseries itself, if at all typical
of the genre, is likely a piece of hackwork. (Those who live by popular
tastes, die by popular tastes.) But it is troubling that the public, or at
least a highly influential segment of it, has apparently ruled any criticism
of President Reagan out of bounds. When did the Gipper become St. Ronald?--

LISTEN, ABC, either fix the many inaccuracies contained in the
program - or DO NOT AIR IT! If it does get aired AS IS, I, as an informed
citizen, will place ABC in the same category as FOX (faux) NEWS and will no
longer believe anything your network has to say about our world!

The acclamation Kyrie eleison (Lord have mercy!) antedates Christian worship and
is the one part of western liturgy that remained in Greek throughout the Middle
