Facebook Breaking News

I love Facebook, it's a tool to inform or un-inform, (or fluffy entertainment) whatever’s your cup of tea (or tea party). I prefer to use this tool as an instrument of information that inspires and enlightens. Today, I came across this sad story about a young man who was murdered for his brave stance against barbaric beliefs that is or may become law in his homeland. He lost his life standing up for justice (for those who died under ruthless atrocities in Bangladesh) and a reality truth that mankind's mind should be free to explore one's existence without persecution. (Atheists are killed in Bangladesh http://freethoughtblogs.com/taslima/2013/02/16/bangladesh-a-fucked-up-country/ ) I’m sure this has happened many times before but because of facebook and the Richard Dawkins Foundation this story has been uncovered from the bottom of mainstream media's heaps, to be told and retold, helping to extend the movement of enlightenment across the globe.

Also, back at home in America, we fight our own battles to free our minds from the demagoguery the GOP tries to spread across our land; hoping to gain enough power that can stop the freedom to explore and accept the claims that their beliefs (whether its religious dogma or corporate greed) should become the law of the land. Elizabeth Warren is championing the fight against such mandates that this party of covetous and pious has inflicted upon us for too long. thinkingblue

PS: The adage "A picture is worth a thousand words" refers to the notion that a complex idea can be conveyed with just a single still image.

Blogger brutally killed

A blogger and activist of Shahbagh movement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Shahbag_Protest was found stabbed dead last night, hours after the organisers decided to discontinue from today the 24-hour blockade. The killing prompted the organisers to abandon a plan to demonstrate in front of National Museum from 3:00pm to 10:00pm every day. The victim, Ahmed Rajib Haidar, lived with his brother Newaz Mortoza Haidar at Palash Nagar in the capital's Mirpur area. Police found the body, bearing several stabs, near his house. Outraged, the Shahbagh protesters demanded immediate arrest of the killers and banning pro-Jamaat blog Sonarbangla that had been carrying out propaganda against Rajib over the last few days. They also called upon the nation to resist the countrywide hartal called by Jamaat for Monday. The protesters have also observed one-minute silence last night and they will wear black badges this morning to mourn for Rajib. His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Shahbagh intersection after Asr prayers today. Rajib, 30, an architect, MORE HERE: http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesign/news-details.php?nid=269336
